QuickBooks Simple Start is a basic small business bookkeeping program with writing and printing checks included as features for $99.95. You can use three check templates to customize checks by changing font styles and adding a personalized logo. To write checks, simply click in the check fields from the check graphic displayed on the screen and enter text.

The program doesn’t include a MICR font to print the MICR line but you can order check stock with pre–printed MICR lines from Intuit’s website.

Some of the small business features include setting up customer and supplier accounts, printing invoices and estimates with a business logo and the program will keep track of credit card transactions.

QuickBooks has a full menu toolbar, icons and a detailed help section to help you navigate the program. Intuit’s website provides FAQs and you can reach them by telephone or email. We contacted them by email regarding Vista and they reported that their program will run with Vista.
